Integrity program

Currently, TNK-BP has approximately 22,600 active field pipelines, 35% of which are have been in use for 15 years or more

The integrity management strategy adopted in 2004 focused on replacing pipelines in poor condition. 3,545 km of pipelines were reconstructed in 2004-2009. For reconstruction to take place, internal and external protection of the pipelines was a requirement. Inhibiting pipelines significantly slows down corrosion, which prolongs their accident-free operation . The volumes pipeline corrosion inhibition has grown by more than a factor of four since 2004. The number of pipeline spills has fallen by 69% since 2004. In addition, large-scale research is underway to develop and integrate new technologies in corrosion inhibition and diagnosis.
