Samotlorneftegaz is TNK-BP’s top producing asset and the company’s biggest subsidiary. It is developing the central and southwestern sectors of the Samotlor field, producing 65% of its current recoverable reserves.
Samotlorneftegaz was created in March 1999 following a restructuring of the Nizhnevartovskneftegaz joint-stock company.
Company’s core activities are exploration and development of oil and gas fields, drilling of parametric, exploratory, appraisal and production wells for hydrocarbons and extraction, transportation, treatment, processing and sale of hydrocarbons, construction of oil and gas field facilities.
In 2008, Samotlorneftegaz’s production was 22.2 million tons of hydrocarbons, and its gas compression division handled 3.3 bcm of gas and transported 5.8 bcm.
The Samotlor licence block which is developed by Samotlorneftegaz covers an area of 1,750 sq km. The field has around 8,300 production wells and 2,700 injection wells fitted with the latest equipment. It has a total of 1,140 km of oil pipelines, 1,223 km of water pipelines and 2,833 km of other pipelines. The entire field is covered with an extensive network of surfaced roads, with a total length of 2,077 km.
